A 5‑Week Confidence‑Building Journey Toward Real‑World Independence

Is your teen ready to build practical life skills in a supportive, sensory‑friendly environment? Our Independent Transit Skills Program is designed specifically for autistic teens who are ready for more autonomy — but benefit from structure, predictability, and compassionate guidance.

Over 5 weeks, teens will learn the skills they need to navigate public transit with growing confidence and comfort. Each session blends clear teaching, hands‑on practice, and supported real‑world experiences, all led by  neurodiversity‑affirming facilitators.

Throughout the program, teens will:

  • Learn the step‑by‑step sequence of a bus trip From planning the route to pressing the stop button, teens build a clear mental map of what to expect.

  • Practice with games, visuals, and role‑play Low‑pressure, engaging activities help teens rehearse skills before trying them in the community.

  • Build flexible problem‑solving skills Teens learn what to do if the bus is late, crowded, or rerouted — with scripts, visuals, and calm‑plan strategies.

  • Take supported real‑world bus rides Three weeks includes a short, supervised ride to help teens apply their learning in a safe, predictable way.

  • Celebrate their independence with a final destination trip Teens plan and complete a full route to a chosen destination, with staff nearby for support.

This program meets teens exactly where they are — offering warmth, predictability, and low‑pressure participation. Every activity is designed to honour autonomy, reduce anxiety, and build real‑world confidence.

Spots are limited. Give your teen the tools to move through their community with confidence, clarity, and pride.
